{"id":6889,"date":"2025-02-04T13:24:47","date_gmt":"2025-02-04T12:24:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fedec.cm\/the-cassava-value-chain-at-the-heart-of-a-womens-empowerment-project-in-tibati\/"},"modified":"2025-02-04T13:24:47","modified_gmt":"2025-02-04T12:24:47","slug":"the-cassava-value-chain-at-the-heart-of-a-womens-empowerment-project-in-tibati","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fedec.cm\/en\/the-cassava-value-chain-at-the-heart-of-a-womens-empowerment-project-in-tibati\/","title":{"rendered":"The cassava value chain at the heart of a women&#8217;s empowerment project in Tibati"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>&nbsp;The Gbaya women  &nbsp;And  &nbsp;Mbororo&nbsp; &nbsp;of the  &nbsp;villages  &nbsp;Mbakaou  &nbsp;And  &nbsp;Boningting,&nbsp; &nbsp;have  &nbsp;started a  &nbsp;new chapter  &nbsp;of  &nbsp;their  &nbsp;activity  &nbsp;agricultural  &nbsp;with  &nbsp;the launch  &nbsp;of a  &nbsp;ambitious project aimed at promoting their cassava production and improving their living conditions.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although cassava cultivation is an ancestral tradition for these women, the income generated by the sale of their production remains modest, and therefore insufficient to meet the needs of their families, considerably limiting their economic autonomy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is in this context that the project &#8220;support for the social and economic empowerment of women through the promotion of the cassava value chain&#8221; financed by the Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) was born.&nbsp; &nbsp;Launched on September 17, 2024, this project includes:<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"381\" height=\"132\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns%3D&#39;http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg&#39;%20width=&#39;381&#39;%20height=&#39;132&#39;%20viewBox%3D&#39;0%200%20381%20132&#39;%2F%3E\" data-czlz data-src=\"https:\/\/fedec.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/LOGO-CANADA-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6778\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/fedec.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/LOGO-CANADA-1.png 381w, https:\/\/fedec.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/LOGO-CANADA-1-300x104.png 300w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 381px) 100vw, 381px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Quality training: The women participated in capacity-building workshops on good agricultural practices, enabling them to optimize their yields and respect the environment. They will also be trained in cassava processing and preservation techniques to diversify their offerings and improve the quality of their products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suitable infrastructure: The construction of a processing unit and the acquisition of modern equipment will enable women to process their production on site, increase their added value and reduce post-harvest losses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Personalized support: The women will receive specific support for marketing their processed products. This includes finding new outlets and negotiating better prices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Strengthening the associative fabric: The project will focus on strengthening the capacities of women&#8217;s groups, thus promoting their empowerment and their ability to organize themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project launch ceremony took place in the presence of the Sub-Prefect of Tibati, as well as numerous Gbaya and Mbororo women, WCS and FEDEC officials.
