The partnership agreement signed between FEDEC and the Granby Zoo aims to strengthen conservation and resource development efforts in Campo-Ma’an National Park (CMNP). The project entitled “Gorilla and Elephant Conservation Initiative in CMNP” has been implemented since January 2018. Despite the current health situation, the Granby Zoo continued to support the project’s activities in 2021 by allocating approximately CAD 20,000. New beehives have been installed in the villages of Nkoelon and Nyamabandé. Ecological monitoring activities are being carried out, as well as monitoring of areas of particular interest in the park. Knowledge of the dynamics of the CMNP mammal population will be improved and will help park managers make effective and efficient decisions.
