A new wind is blowing on the Foundation’s Board of Directors with the arrival of Professor Bonaventure SONKE, co-opted during the work of the 45th session held on December 17, 2020 in Yaoundé. A multi-talented figure, Professor SONKE is Head of the Biology Department at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Yaoundé I, an associate researcher at the Missouri Botanical Garden (United States) and the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium) and a plant taxonomist. He has devoted a large part of his research to the study of the classification of the Rubiaceae family. Professor SONKE is also the author of the book on the vegetation of Dja East Cameroon entitled “Forests of the Dja Reserve (Cameroon)” and co-author of numerous works on the identification of tropical forest plants and the description of more than 60 new species for science.
